The independent port of Nouakchott, known as the Port of Friendship

The independent port of Nouakchott, known as the Port of Friendship, plays a fundamental role in the national economy and in the commercial exchanges of our country, most of which pass through sea routes.

It constitutes one of the most important industrial and commercial tools for the economic and social development of the country.

It should adapt to the rapid developments in the exchange movement between our country and the rest of the world.

Le Port Autonome de Nouakchott PANPA

The port of Nouakchott, as the first commercial public port south of the Sahara and at the crossroads between Europe, Africa and North America, enjoys a preferential location that prepares it to play a fundamental role in international trade, not only for Mauritania, but also for neighboring countries that do not overlook the sea.

The security and safety of port installations is a special feature of the port of Nouakchott, which has been embodied since 2008 in the recognition of its compliance with the International Ship Security Standards (ISPS), which was ratified in 2002 by the International Maritime Organization, to which Mauritania belongs.

Measures have been taken to protect the beach as part of the expansion deal. It involves building a T-shaped spike to reshape the beach sand, and extending the barrier by five kilometers to protect the backyards from seawater intrusion.
